HIGH SCHOOL COUNSELORS
Welcome to the
Dual Enrollment Program
We are thrilled to welcome your students to the Dual Enrollment Program at Georgia State. Our goal is to help answer your questions and provide the information you need to ensure your students are successful through this transition.
The Basics of Dual Enrollment
Why Should My Students Participate in the Dual Enrollment Program?
There are economic advantages, too. The Dual Enrollment Funding Award covers tuition for approved classes for high school students. By completing core college courses before high school graduation, students and their families gain further financial savings by reducing the time required to earn a bachelor’s degree.
How Do I Get My Student's Final Grades?
Georgia State will mail official grade reports to a student’s high school (not the student) at the end of each semester. Processing of student grades usually takes one to two weeks after the end of the final exam period. Grades are recorded as letter grades. University instructors do not give mid-term grades. Students can check their progress at any point during the semester by speaking with their instructor.
In order to transfer credit for college courses taken at Georgia State to another college, students must make a separate transcript request for each college.
What is My Role in Dual Enrollment?
- Disorganization
- Perfectionism
- Inability to handle stress
- Unassertiveness
- Unwillingness to ask for help
- Over-reliance on parents
College classes are significantly more rigorous and challenging than high school classes, which means they require an elevated level of personal initiative. When considering dual enrollment, we encourage parents to also consider their student’s maturity. It’s key to their success in the program.
