For the latest information on how to continue at Georgia State after graduating from high school, contact the Office of Undergraduate Admissions at 404-413-2500 or [email protected]. You can request that an official transcript be sent to another college or university through your PAWS account. Follow these steps: At the end of each semester, the Dual Enrollment Office will work with the Office of Registrar to send your grades to your high school. All dual enrollment students must obtain written consent from their high school counselor to withdraw from a course. Counselors must email the Dual Enrollment Office to approve the student’s withdraw request. Once the consent form has been approved, the Dual Enrollment Office will contact the student with further steps to withdraw. PAWS is Georgia State’s Panther Access to Web Services student portal. It provides students, faculty and staff with personalized access to a wide range of campus resources in a single location. You can register for classes, access your PantherMail, request official transcripts and more through PAWS. Every student is issued a PantherCard as a form of official university identification. Carry it with you at all times on campus. More information about the PantherCard.Current Students FAQs - DE
Parents
Students can check their academic progress at any point during the semester by speaking with an instructor. Encourage your child to keep track of his or her own grades. Georgia State doesn’t mail out grade reports to students. Soon after the end of the semester, students can see their final course grades in PAWS. Students should only select courses from the approved course listing located at gafutures.org. For additional information on class funding, please go to gafutures.org. Payment of tuition, fees and books for non-approved courses (courses not listed on the approved list) are the responsibility of the student. All new dual enrollment students are required to complete Dual Enrollment Orientation. During orientation, students receive directions on how to register. Once orientation is complete, the student will be cleared to register. A registration guide can also be found at https://registrar.gsu.edu/registration/registration.../how-to-register-in-paws/. FERPA, the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, is designed to protect students’ rights with regard to educational records maintained by an institution. The intent of this legislation is to protect the rights of students and ensure the privacy and accuracy of education records. FERPA has very clear rules about ownership of educational records. FERPA regulations are different for colleges than for high schools. Once an applicant is accepted as a college student, regardless of the age of the student or who is paying the bills, the educational records become the property of the student. Georgia State instructors and administrators are not permitted to discuss attendance, academic progress or disciplinary actions with a parent alone. However, a student can request a meeting that includes parents in which case parents can be included in the discussion provided the student has completed the FERPA release form and submitted the completed form to the registrar’s office. The Georgia Student Finance Commission provides tuition for dual enrollment students enrolled in as many as15 credit hours per semester in courses selected from an approved list. Students are responsible for the payment of course- related fees.Parents FAQs - DE
Funding
The Georgia Student Finance Commission (GSFC) is one of the most successful state student aid operations in the nation. When founded in 1965 as the State Scholarship Commission, the agency’s primary function was to provide and service educational loans. Over the years, GSFC has grown to be the administrator of more than 20 state- and lottery-funded scholarships, grants and service-cancelable loan programs that ensure Georgians have an opportunity to access education beyond high school. In addition, GSFC provides free financial aid consultation to K-12, postsecondary institutions and community organizations across the state to help students and their families prepare to pay for college.
