SLU prides itself as an organization of diverse college-educated (collegiate) and professional women dedicated to uplifting traditionally marginalized groups, especially Latinx and women, by serving as a voice and means for empowerment. Since 1987, SLU has been an outlet for professional development and personal growth to its members and serving constituents. The Sorority's impact can be seen in the outstanding accomplishments of their Hermanas, the young women they have mentored through the LADYS and PEARLS programs, and through the lives of all the people, the Sorority has touched via their many literacy initiatives. Thus, proving to colleges and communities that women of color can make a difference.

The mission of Lambda Theta Phi is to serve as a source of support for students and professionals in pursuit of an education or career while promoting Latin unity. We encourage and practice unity and respect among all cultures and creeds, to promote Brotherhood, to maintain a high standard of learning, to develop character, and to practice chivalry while upholding dignity and self-identity. The Goals of the Fraternity are to develop scholarship among the Latinx Community, to make students and professionals aware of their responsibilities to the community, and to defend the rights of Latin students everywhere. Our members participate in responsible civic actions, in an effort to empower the Latinx community and to assert positive leadership while serving as role models.
